Are you serious?
Drinking water is good for homeostatis, its good as a buffer, and it replenishes our basic needs.
Tell your friend he can do whatever he wants, just don't fall for this hijinx.
good luck!!!!

Your friend is an idiot! Pure and simple! Our bodies are about 80% water and 6 - 8 glasses of drinking water every day are critical to health.
Coffee, beer, pop and many juices actually cause water loss as they have a diuretic affect and cause excessive urination and water loss.
If you are exposed to high heat and activity levels, you need to increase your WATER intake to counter the loss through sweating. When I was in the Gulf during the first Gulf War, we were required to drink 12 LITERS of water every day, evenly spaced out throughout the day. Any other liquids did NOT count to this requirement.
The minimal absorption of water though bathing, teeth brushing, etc has no benefit and causes NO harm.
Continuous immersion in water (like that idiot "magician" a while back) can be injurious but normal exposure to water has no ill effects at all -- assuming that the water is clean, of course.
Again, your friend is an idiot, fool, moron, and without a clue! I can't stress this enough! Do NOT listen to him!! You will cause permanent damage to yourself over the long run!!

What a load of bull. Not only is it healthy to drink water , it is necessary. read the following:
Next to oxygen, water is the most important element in sustaining life. It makes up over 70% of our body weight. Almost everything in our body depends on water. It is:
Involved in every body process including digestion, absorption, circulation and elimination
Keeps blood thin and free flowing
Distributes body heat
Acts as a lubricant for moving parts
Moves nutrients throughout the body
Handles the elimination of waste
Keeps our brain functioning
We should be drinking approximately 8-12 glasses of water per day (64 to 96 ounces). Of course this varies with the size of the person, the activity level and what the temperature is that day. If you are not drinking sufficient quantities of water you may suffer from; headaches, fatigue, allergies, asthma, constipation or urinary problems. What about the quality of the water? Almost every major city in the U.S. adds chlorine and fluoride to the local water for purification. These two chemicals are deadly poisons to be avoided at all costs. Do not drink tap water. In fact, the EPA’s Science Advisory Board reported that “drinking water in the U.S. ranks as one of the top health risks.” According to the National Cancer Institute, just drinking chlorinated water increases our risk of certain cancers by as much as 80%. Another water factor to consider is your bathing or showering. If your water is not being filtered, you are probably absorbing more chemicals through your lungs and skin than what you would drink in a day. In order to enjoy our health we must implement ways in which we can have an abundance of clean, pure water. There is simply no substitute!

Coke really has no nutritional value. Beer in moderation (1 or 2 a day, preferably at or after dinner) is good for your heart and circulation, as the alcohol within is a very light fluid. Water is the best thing you can drink, because it flushes out impurities more frequently than other fluids and it keeps your hydration level higher.
Water itself is not at all harmful, unless you get it in your lungs. Your friend was pulling your leg, I think.
A cup of coffee in the morning is also good for flushing impurities.

most definitely not! there is nothing about water that will hurt your health- if there was, you'd already be dead, because your body is composed of over 70% water. Drinking beer is unhealthy because it makes you an alcoholic and while you are under influence you do really stupid things. Drinking coke is unhealthy because it is sugary, and it is bad for your teeth. To not take showers is unhealthy because you could get bacteria on you and then you don't wash it off and then they get inside you and kill you, and also it's really, really smelly. Brushing your teeth is imperative if you don't want cavities, bad breath, or gum disease. Your friend is psyco, and you should not listen to his advise... especially if he tells you to smoke or do drugs.

Your friend will live a short life just drinking beer and coke and no water. H2O is necessary for survival. Studies show that people who drink at least one non-diet drink a day are 2-3 times more likely to get diabetes in their lifetime. Do you really want to put yourself in that situation because your friend is stupid?

I agree with Mariah, your friend is shoveling a bunch of BS at you! Drink plenty of water, and add a little fresh-squeezed lemon to it. That lemon isnt just for decorating your glass, lemons are one of the healthiest things you can eat and even just one drop of it will keep you from retaining the water. I do recommend staying AWAY from tap water tho! Ask any nutritionalist, its baaad stuff, foget what the government says. PS: Heres a challenge: Drink nothing but water with lemon in it, at least 64oz a day for 2 weeks. Pay attention to how you feel. I guarantee if you lay off drinking all that other crap, you wont believe how great you feel and how awesome your skin looks!

A few years ago I passed out at work and I was taken to the hospital by ambulance. The doctors said that I was severely dehydrated. I had been working in the heat and drinking tea and sodas all day. They put an IV in each arm and kept me there for 18 hours. Trust me, the solution dripping out of them was NOT beer or coke! They also told me that each time a person allows themselves to become very dehydrated, it damages their brain. Perhaps that is what happened to your "not very smart" friend, who told you this whopper.

Water is absolutely essential to life and health - and the additional ingredients in beer and coke are worse for your health than pure water along.

Your friend is a complete idiot!! Not drinking water, pure water with no additives, is what is dangerous to your health. Drinking beer and soda exclusivly, will cause kidney and liver damage among other problems. Drink water!! Lots of water!! And slap the **** out of your friend for being soooooo stupid!!!

obviously you believe your friend, or you wouldn't ask if it would hurt you to brush your teeth and shower. That is just gross. Be careful you don't become one of those people who fall into idiotic cults that people like your friend start, or he'll end up convincing you that dying together is a good thing, too. (contrary to what he believes, trust me, everyone around him, and now obviously around you, is thinking, "it's wouldn't kill him to take a shower, and brush his teeth!') How gross! Not only does bad hygien make people want to be as far away from you as possible, it can cause health problems! My advice? #1.Get help for why you would be so guilable as to be suckered into believing him. #2, get a new friend that smells good, and still has their sanity.
