Based on the mindset of many now, Malaysia will be just trudging along, not keeping up with the rest of the world. There needs to be a complete change of mindset. I'm not saying abandon the traditional ways. No...tradition needs to live on. But Malaysians have to:
1. let go of government handouts
2. stop playing "know someone high up" to get things done
3. the culture of bribing and corruption (not that prevalant, but enough to discourage people from actually providing a service they are tasked to give)
4. realize that they really can do it...Malaysia Boleh!
The familiar saying...first class facilities but third class mentality....this has to go. Manners, social habits, general cleanliness...all has to get better.
Plenty of Malaysians are doing the right thing, but collectively, lots more to do (without becoming overly competitive, unlike some people, nudge nudge).
Malaysia has tremendous potential, because at the core, the people are good and have tremendous pride in themselves. They are beautiful and gracious.
