I have dark skin and although I don't sun bathe recently I've noticed dry patches on my cheeks. I use dermalogica products, but even that isn't working. Any suggestions.

Well, there are a few things you can do. One thing is to use a soft facial brush when you wash your face. You need to exfoliate often to remove the dead skin cells and the circular motion will help stimualate new cell growth. Another thing that can be done is use products wth glycolic acid. DDF has a great line of these products. A drug store moisturizer with glycolic that is like the best moisturizer is Neutrogena Face lotion...it's awesome. A third thing that take discipline but works is fade cream. One of the best is DDF with hydroquinone, which can be applied to the patches to lighten those areas. Lastly, the greatest thing you can do is to go to a spa, and ask for a glycolic peel. While you will have to go about six times and use sunscreen religiously, your skin will be even. Also, yes, sunscreen, used daily, will help to keep the sun off of these areas, so that the skin can become even again.

Simple, just exfoliate using a gentle facial scrub. Use a cotton wool ball, wet it, flatten it and put the scrub on the cotton wool then in small circular motions gently rub your face, you should use a fresh ball for different parts of the face. After you have done this rinse your face with some cold water this will close your pores and tone your face. Pat your face dry or not and use plenty of moisturiser apply a little more than normal before bed.

After showering and while still wet use some baby oil before you dry yourself off, this will help seal in more moisture on the body too.

Only last week my doc gave me a script 4 dry skin..He advised me never to use commercially expensive products..Use aqueous cream as soap...put it on shower then towel gently leaving some moisture on your skin..Then use Doublebase as a moisturiser. This had a liquid paraffin base...I feel great after using these 2 products

I get eczema on my face (eyelid and by my nose) I have to use a mild steroid cream initially and then I often use a mild scrub along with a base moisturiser. Rose oil can hel as well.

It is best to visit your doctor to get a diagnosis as you do not know what it is then based on that diagnosis you can check what sort of products may work.

My experience is that you have to be prepared to experiment with different options available. Let me know what your diagnosis is.

i use olay dual action day cream SENSITIVE, not normal. theres also a night cream. its really good at getting rid of dry skin. its quite likely to be an allergy to a product you are using, so try new ones to see if its that - you can get an allergy even from things you have used for years so its worth checking. it could also be due to something like your washing powder so try changing that

i like using the Aveeno lotion for dry skin. It seems to be working for me. Also, try not to wash your face to often, it will dry it out. Don't use perfumed products on your skin either. :o)
