I do everyday when i empty something into the garbage i think of how good i have it(my life) because I'm throwing away this food that could save someones life....its kind of depressing for a minute because we all know those adds on t.v"save the kids donate money now" all of us know that money doesn't go to them maybe 1 fourth of it but the rest goes to the advertisers so my answer is yes its hard not to when your wasting food its sad to think that every 3 seconds someone in Ethiopia dies of starvation or disease and its sad to think that those families would do anything for that food your throwing out

First of all, I don't dispose of edible food. Nor do I purchase food I don't want. To suggest that people should feel guilty about others they have no control over is a bit judgmental on your part.

Nope.
Third world nations are usually that way because of thier leadership. Look at africa as a continent for example. The ONE nation that took full advantage of the natural resources there was South Africa, a shining jewel in a sea of manure. And the reason; leadership. Of course once the ANC took over, it fell back into ruin.

In most poor countries, the problem isn't lack of food, it's lack of money. The people who are starving don't have the money to purchase food. There is food available, they just can't afford it. Giving them large amounts of surplus food can actually cause more problems than it solves. Poor farmers, who are barely surviving, are hurt by lower prices for their crops. The donated food often ends up in the warehouses of the rich and powerful, who sell it to those who can afford to pay for it. It's a difficult problem to solve.

everyday. we have so much waste here in this country and we have so many in THIS country that are starving let alone 3rd world countries. let me ask you this, how can we effectively take care of another country's starvation problems when we cannot effectively take care of our own? the edible and unwanted foods should be locally distributed here, and once we have erased the problem of starvation here, we can then go out into the world. take care of home first.

I often think as I throw food away, gosh I am wasteful. There are people who don't have enough. But it's not the food you scrape off your plate that you should feel bad about. It's about whether you give out of your means to people who need help?

I do think about the other people that don't have any possibility to eat even once a day, I would like to help all of them, but because I can't, so I try to keep up with my neighbors or someone I know in my city!

I do. I feel horrible when I throw out something that could feed them for a whole day. Wish I could box it up and send it over, but who wants to eat after me or my kids?

I think a hell of them a hell of alot less than kids from the U.S. who are under-nourished or hungry because their mothers trade their food stamps for crack and lottery tickets
