1.earthquakes have their advantages: they push land further up, thus helping vegetation flourish. So it is part of the shaping of the earth.
2.following an earthquake, we have a greater understanding of how buildings behave during an earthquake and this, in turn, can lead to better designs which may protect lives in the future.
3. The third is that, following an earthquake, we have greater knowledge of the structure of the earth and can therefore monitor and perhaps, predict with more accuracy. Many of the plate boundaries are well documented but there are some smaller fractures that we are unaware of. For example, until the Indian earthquake of 1993 (Maharashtra state) we did not even know there was a likelihood of earthquakes there.

To level out the ocean floor on the west coast & hopefully it will decrease the hurricanes that are happening on the east coast. The earths core needs settling from time to time.
