There are many reasons why her menstruation has stopped.

Amenorrhea is the absence of menstruation, and can be either primary or secondary. Primary amenorrhea is failure to menstruate by age 16 years in girls who have normal puberty, by age 14 years in those with delayed puberty, or two years after sexual maturation has occurred. Primary amenorrhea may be caused by genetic disorders, hormonal imbalance, brain defects, or physical abnormality of the reproductive organs.

Secondary amenorrhea refers to the absence of menstruation after an interval of normal menstruation. It is identified as not menstruating for three months in females with irregular menstrual cycles, six months in females with normal menstrual cycles, and 18 months in females who had just started menstruating. Secondary amenorrhea can be caused by pregnancy, weight loss, excessive exercise, breast feeding, disease, or menopause. Menopause takes place when the ovaries stop producing estrogen, causing periods to become irregular and then stop. But this wont apply to your friend since It generally occurs when a woman is between 48 and 52 years of age.

I would rule out being pregnant. It is probably just normal weight gain and a late period caused by who knows what. Stress can delay menstruation! Stress also makes you gain weight! I wouldn't worry about it unless she continued to miss periods. Tell her to try to relax and hopefully she will get her period! If she is worried tell her to see a doctor.

Of course it is not needed to be so pessimistic if period has stopped just two-four months.

She can take Rajapravartini Vati, 2 tabs slight chew and swallow with water after lunch and dinner, till period resumes. The tablets will restore progesterone levels, which will help to curb the weight gain.
Tablets are ayurvedic and many online website smay be selling them.

Stress can cause hormonal changes. It happened to me at around 32, I was working 20 hours a week overtime and was all stressed out. The doctor said it was stress and pre-menopause hormones. But I did go to the doctor and she needs to as well.

Truthfully, it sounds like she's pregnant.
Is she on some type of birth control?
I know stress can cause an interruption in menstruation but not like that to my knowledge.
How do you know she wasn't having sex?
I think she's pregnant like I said before

yeah - I think it does effect it. I havn't had mentrated in about 8 months, I know, it's weird, and I've gained about 10 pounds and I can't seem to get rid of the weight...people have told me it's 'normal' but I honestly don't think so, I'd have your friend see a doctor.

Stress can make you not have a period. She may want to follow up with her doctor, just in case.
