Say you had medium toned skin with little noticable bumps on your face, you havea problem with getting tanned to easily
and you have a choice between 2 creams, one with makes your skin darker, but helps heal the bumps,
or one that makes your skin lighter but makes more bumps, wich one would you choose?

i'll go darker.....

its okay cuz your skin color can get off but not the bumps right?

You would want the one which helps with the bumps. If you feel better heals the bumps then it would be better using that one.
