first click on your start menu, then click on accessories, then when the little window list opens click on disc cleanup and follow the instructions to clean up the c/file , once done go to through the same process but this time hit defragmentation, then click the defragmentation button. This will safely compress your files opening more computor space without causing any problems and will help speed up your computor. This should be done on a regular basis at least once a week. Also if you have information stored in your document files that you no longer use delete them and also with music files if you have unused ones. Then hit your recycle bin button and delete, that will also free up space thus speed up your computor. Also if you are not already using a dsl connection or roadrunner from your cable company you may consider purchasing a high speed internet connection. The disc clean up and defragmentation cost you nothing and should help quite alot if you haven't done it already. If you have anti virus and or anti spyware programs also run them on a regular basis its easy to pick up things on the internet which will slow your computor a great deal.

You probably need to run the disk de-frag to free up some space and neaten up your files. Go start> control panel> performance and maintenance. Choose the option to free up disk space. (Assuming you have XP)
If it's still slow, you might want to remove some of those big clunky programs or games you never use anymore.
Also, if you have Norton Anti-virus, its a big lumbering beast that will slow everything down. Hope this helps

1) Delete all the clutter on the desktop (keep it minimal, only the absolute necessary items)
2) Defrag your system
3) If you are running windows 98/95/me, remove applications from startup
4) Other obvious way is to increase the RAM/ upgrade processor/ add a powerful graphics card.

How old is it. More details would help. Add memory, add a larger hard drive, add a new video card, get broadband, download spybot search and destroy.

I had the same problem. You may want to get a new reseptor for your monitor.
