Think about it. Sometimes a product stands out on it's own and doesn't need the extra marketing....such as JIF peanut Butter (Choosey Mom's choose JIF...after all).

Other products, such as (Coke and Pepsi) or (McDonalds and Burger King) have created such a similar product that a war has ensued on the marketing battlefield.

That justifies the need for Product and Brand manufacturing...if there is a similar product on the market and is comparably priced, then it becomes about marketing.

That's how companies sell their products to consumers for generations. It's marketed by ads on TV, radio, print, the Internet, and on store display.
