No, she still holds the top position in that regard.
But Tony Blair is catching up fast, and if he does not resign soon, he could well take Maggie's place. Because, whatever Thatcher did (and you know yourself how terrible she was), she never did start an illegal war or participated in the illegal occupation of two sovereign foreign countries.
The best way to deal with Thatcher is to remember her and her party (because it was not just her, but also all her lackeys who did the harm and made huge profits) very clearly and therefore make sure that the Tories will NEVER EVER again be in charge of British politics, no matter who leads the Conservative Party.

As an American, I don't understand why Margaret Thatcher was hated. I think most of us are under the impression that she was a well respected leader who kept England from being bullied by the Soviets or terrorists. We still remember her famous comment to former President George H. Bush, "Don't go wobbly on us now, George!" We thought that was great. What a strong, dynamic lady.
Our last impression of Margaret Thatcher was when she attended former President Ronald Reagan's funeral. Even though she was too frail to speak at the podium, she recorded a very heartfelt, touching message, praising Reagan to the heavens.
How bad could Margaret Thatcher possibly be considering she had the selflessness, spirit, and courage to make such a grand, noble gesture of respect to someone we all admired? If she was such a great, steadfast friend to President Reagan, if she could express so much love, concern and admiration for him, don't you think she also felt this way about the people of England?
Please check out her eulogy to Ronald Reagan below. It is well worth reading.
Until I hear differently, I will consider her a great lady.

Sorry this is an extemist question. Not even the Labour, Communist or Liberal parties would accept.
If you look at everything the labour party accused thatcher of wanting to do whilst she was in power they have now done with the exception of VAT on childrens clothing and food. Using Lottery funds for political purposes, privitisation of the health service, destroying law and order - the list is endless.
What future for britain if such polital cant as yours ever becomes acceptable? The labour party excluded people with such views years ago.
England would be a much better place if society could do the same and you would no doubt be a much happier person if you could climb down from your soap box and learn that toleration of other peoples views actually indicates intelligence!

YES TONY BLAIR & that witch of a wife of his, all the both of them want 2 do from the day they took office is to milk the british public of their hard earned cash, she will defend any alien who is up for legal aid, so she can pocket the money from it, she has helped her husband to open the doors to any one to walk into this country, let criminals off with a smacked leg & say dont do it again & cow tow to Brussels bigwigs, wont be long before he gives them power over this country then god help us all, and as for the rest of this cabinet, defines words to describe, leeches & parasites i think defines them well. Maggie Thatcher had her faults as does any prime minister that tries to run this country, but NEVER before has a labour prime minister ever done this country any good, they have introduced so many stealth taxes that we are now payin tax upon taxes, Tony Blair or should we call him what he wants to be called MR. PRESIDENT & his so called cabinet should have been kicked into touch ages ago, perhaps the pound in our pocket would still be worth around a pound & not about 25pence

Maggie did far more good than she did bad, and that record looks brilliant compared to Tony Blair who seems to have achieved very little for the ordinary man on the street. The Poll Tax is still with us, just under a different name, and nobody is complaining (least not New Labour). Would you really want to go back to union control and the three day week? New Labour has become full of liars and time wasters, and Tony Blair seems to be the worst of all.
Having said that, a lot of people will never forgive her for the boom and bust of the eighties during which a lot of people lost everything (even though it probably wasn't her fault). She did a lot of things that benefited some and made life hell for others, can't please 'em all. I have to say though that I really respected her for how she handled the Falklands War, what an inspirational leader she was!

Mrs Thatcher polarised opinion in a way no other PM has done. Tony Blair is pretty unpopular and despised in certain circles but for the degree of sheer visceral loathing felt by many people (including me) I don't think any British PM can top Mrs Thatcher.

One section of the British public hate her, and unfortunately it is the small section which has the biggest mouth and makes the most noise.
The funny thing is that when people shout their hatred of her it all stems back to the fact that she " wasnt a nice person and hurt people, and didnt have respect for people" and clearly that would be wrong. But the same people are quite happy to talk about looking forward to her dying and hating her guts personally.
Its funny also that the current Labour government has continued her policies, and got us into a far more costly war which isnt even about British interests, which the Falklands was.
Dual standards?
I do wish people would chill out.

People seem to be answering that Blair is most hated, I disagree, he may be pretty unpopular at the moment, but I think whoever is the current PM will be hated in some capacity. However, looking at the big big picture of things, I think it will take more than some bloke sucking up to George Bush and a questionable war to be hated more than Thatcher. She was something else!

Personally, I get very angry when I think of that woman. I find that those who are not from the UK admire her but they don't have to live with the consequences.
She released our demons - selfishness & greed to name 2 - and told us they were good. She told us community did not exist and therefore we only had to think of ourselves. She said she was for the family and then helped its destruction. She saw what we wanted and she allowed us to pursue it no matter what the consequences.
She changed our culture irrevocably (and I am still in mourning for it) to the extent that even the Left have adopted her values. And I don't mean the Labour Party - I mean the real Left. They've all become Libertarians where individual freedoms come before all else!
Then Blair came and finished it off, so I jumped ship and went to watch from afar.
