There's only one Purdue University. The main campus is in West Lafayette, IN. They do have satellite campuses around the state, usually in conjunction with Indiana University (IU). Those are called IUPU-something, such as IUPUI in Indianapolis, IUPUC-in Columbus, IUPUFW in Fort Wayne. The main campus of IU is in Bloomington, IN, by the way. No Purdue courses there, however.

If you mean the difference between Indiana University (IU) and Purdue University, it depends upon your major. If you're going into Engineering or a scienctific field, Purdue is one you want. If you are going into Biology or Chemistry, either school, although I believe IU ranks a little higher in those two fields.

For other fields, IU is a bit better of a choice. For Education, Business or Public Affairs, definitely IU.

If you aren't sure of what you want to major in, but think it might be engineering, but might be a liberal arts or business field, a good option would be IUPUI in Indianapolis. Your basic courses can apply to either school, but the degreeing granting school could be either Purdue or IU, depending on your major.

My 3 neices went to IUPUI. One has a Criminal Justice degree from IU, and one has a BSN (nursing) from IU, and the other has an Engineering degree from Purdue. All from the same campus.

So, what do you think might be your major? Graduate level or undergraduate? With more details, I can give even more information.
