I have been in a relationship with the birthday boys grandpa for 5 years. Grandpa always gives him money. I feel like I shouldn't even be there if I don't plan to buy a present. I am not sure how to handle it.

He has 6 kids and many grandchildren and every grandchild has a birthday party and I could go bankrupt trying to keep up with all the birthday parties for the kids and grandkids. I just wondered if maybe I should let grandpa buy the gifts. He is a real cheap *** and I am not as financially well off as he is.

Yes-definitely buy him a small, cute gift, let's say a gift certificate to his favorite toy store. This will let him know that you care, and the gesture will be very nice.

Shame on you not want to buy a little boy a b-day present. Come on you can't get him a little car for $3-$4 would that really kill you and you say you have been in a relationship with his Grandfather for 5 years, shouldn't you feel a connection with this little boy. I can't believe this do you love this man?

i know how you feel with him having a big family. however little kids, that age are old enough to remember things like this.it don't take alot to make a child happy. they don't understand the price thang so something cheep will make them as happy as something that cost 50. go to the dollar tree and get a couple toys for a dollar.

yes, why not? a gift is different from money itself. try giving an intellectual gift. letters-like toys really help!
