Lisa is correct that a rainbow is actually a circle. I once saw a full circle rainbow while driving by farmland. There was a rainbow above the just plowed farmland, and the circle continued all the way down in on top of the land. That was the first time I had ever seen a full rainbow. It was pretty cool to see. It looked like some portal.
Also those who realize that there is no beginning nor end to all things, will start seeing the extra layers of the rainbow prism. Like double, triple and more. The most I've seen is just barely a triple. My father once saw a triple rainbow.
The light is continuous like a ray, it does not end, but we've been raised to be closed-minded and can only see one rainbow most of the time, maybe double if we're lucky.
If you look real closely at the bottom or top layer of a rainbow, you'll notice tiny more layers of colors continuing.

The rainbow is actually circular, and the optical illusion of the human eyes make it to see it as an arch. Many movies have come where they show that the end of the rainbow contains splendour things which are really enchanting. But the scientific reason is that the rainbow does not have an end. Its just the splitting of light by the tiny rain droplets.

Rarely, you can see a so-called end of a rainbow. The conditions, such as location of sun and saturation of water in the air, have to be just right. The problem of course is you can't see it if you get to close, but if you stand there someone else would see you in the reainbow's end. Someone here in east Tennessee took a photo of a rainbow ending on a tractor. Again, the conditions are rare, I think it can only occur after a fog lifts.

Did you know that if you looked at a rainbow from the sky in a aeroplane say, the rainbow wouldn't have an end! Rainbows are actually circles! You think they have an end but its just the curve of water molecules that bounces the light.

There is nothing at the end of a rainbow. I know this because a rainbow ended in my Aunt's back yard once and there was nothing there. We went out and walked though it. And all that was there was the special feeling we had to have the rainbow there. It was pretty cool.

Well really, rainbows actually go in a full circle but you can't really see because they are so big. However, if you want a silly answer, I think there is a drunken leprichaun at one end of a rainbow and he keeps his pot o' gold at the other end and because it is so far from one end to the other, you will never find the gold or the leprichaun. You see, he can magic himself to and fro but you couldn't. You would take a gazillion light years to get from one end to the other.

*puts on Irish accent*
Me:Top of the morning to you
Leprechaun: And the rest of the day to yourself
Me: well what's at the end of the rainbow?
Leprechaun: A crock of gold and a leprechaun to be sure.
