If a song makes you sad, why do you listen to it anyway? Same for movies?

Even in sadness, sometimes a good memory surfaces. Some sad songs do that for me.

People listen to sad songs when they want to share their sadness with someone. While listening to sad songs they get a satisfaction that they are not the only one who is sad.

Because it makes us feel something, and we all identify with sadness, so it is like a fix of emotion.
