No I doubt it. I'm sure they will still be around, but with such widespread use of mp3 players and other devices that utilize hardrives, I see CD's becoming obsolete very quickly. It's much easier to carry an iPod with 1000 songs than a portable cd player and 100 CD's. Besides, with cars now coming equipped with iPod docks and manufacturers making FM transmitters and home stereos for these devices I don't see CD players being manufactured much longer anyway.

I think there will not be CD shops because about every 10 years they come-out with something new. But that is just what i think.

No. I think the technology will change a lot in the next 20 years. Look at how it's changed in the past 20 years. Twenty years ago there was no commercial internet. Look at how the proliferation of the internet has changed people's day to day lives.

Unless you're referring to bank CD's, I highly doubt it.

They'll probably have shops selling some form of multimedia (whatever the media will be in the future), but no CD's will be like 8-track tapes in the future.

You wouldn't think so, with everything else going digital.
How about this: Will there be any movie or game rental stores in 20 years? Will you just be able to temporarily download them to your system? It's a pretty cool thought.

Sure! There are still record stores, you know... they're just very rare. Americans have always been fond of antiques, something to do with our relatively short history as a country.

They'll still be there, they'll just be as rare as record stores are today.

for me yes... i know that CD piracy is now spreading but then the government of each nation will never let it kill the music industry, and laws will be formulated to save it...

In old antique stores, maybe.

Maybe by then, everyone will just have a chip put in their brains and you can listen to music or watch movies from inside your brain.
