Start by getting work from friends and family....you will grow from there ... word will spread...more people will want you....you'll have to hire someone to help you... and then another....you'll accumulate an inventory of supplies....you'll be making money and reinvest it into your business....do some advertising...you'll start needing a part time bookkeeper.... more employees...

You can start with friends and family but this ends really quick.

The simple way is....

Go to a printing store and make up 1000 business cards. Set aside 1 week to do nothing but marketing. No cleaning at all. Now with those 1000 business cards go around and just about anyone you run into hand them one and talk for 30 seconds about your business.

You can approach business's with your cards.

You can approach that woman who is loading groceries into her SUV that is over ran in fast food bags and toys. Right off you know her home is going to need your service. But you can upsell your service and say " we can clean your car as well as your home". If you do not want to tackle the car yourself, find a local detail shop and get a good price from them, then mark it up a few dollars and claim it as part of your service.

You can just place the business cards on cars in parking lots. I would slide the card into the window gasket just above the door handle, this is best placement for the owner to see the card.

Just spend a week of walking, talking and handing out your cards. From there you will get some calls for work. Once the first jobs are completed offer a discount for referral services. If the customer referrs a friend you give them a coupon or a refund.

This in turn starts to build your client list. Before you know it you will be over ran in work. If work is slow at times, go back to the original plan and take 1 day and do nothing but marketing again.

You can spend money on mailer coupons, etc but normally the returns barely pays for the cost.

Assuming that you've done a good job, I promise to refer you to others in need of cleaning and by word of mouth, you'll get more customers... before you know it you'll be hiring others to take care of your many customers, then you'll retire and leave the business for your children and family to carry on.
