Because they are pre-occupied with something else at the time. When i was little my brother took 10 minutes trying to put his shoes on. We were close in age and we had the same style trainers, however mine were two sizes smaller. I was playing on the games system whilst he watched(pre-occupied) and attempted to put on his trainers. Not only was he putting the right shoe on the left foot, but it was my shoe!

They just don't know how, yet. Tell them that the toes of the shoes have to point to each other, and that shoes with side buckles should have the buckles on the outside of their feet.
Please be patient, they will learn these things as they grow up, some faster than others.

The chance of putting the correct shoe on the correct foot is 50%. So some-one must be doing it the right way.

Tell them that the curve of the shoe goes on the inside of their feet. If they forget, tell them that they should look at their feet and see where the curve is (ie- on the inside part) and match the shoe.

I put my shoes on backwards, I lace them backwards and I also put on my belt backwards.
Why?!?! One simple reason.
The mirror effect. It is what I saw Dad and others do as I learned so I copied what I saw, litterally.
Try putting the item on yourself backwards so they see it being done the correct way.

draw two different picture( easily rememberable ) outside of the shoe sole. teach to your kid & make practice for putting one picture shoe in write leg and another in left leg.
very importantly don't be teach to the kid at hurry-burry.
beacuse it cann't remember well. keep cool yourself & teach because it's for certain period only.
better luck.
bye

All Kids are in playing mood.
So they not concentrate in that work.
So be patient and teach step by step.
Next time they will do correct.

No one will teach them!
I show a Child how to lay the shoes "Side by Side" both ways L/R and R/L so they "SEE" how the toe ends are different. Not take long and they have this simple step down and learn quickly. Then comes the fun part; "Tying Them"!!!! :-o

because they cant tell the difference. iether mark their foot to the correct shoe, or show then how the left shoe curves the way your left foot does.
