Your body retains water so that causes the weight gain. A good way to help this problem is about a week before your period, quit eating salty foods and quit drinking soda

Its because your body retains water when you are on your period. Midol has a diuretic in it so it reduces the bloating, but be sure to drink plenty of water with it or you will be dehydrated. It makes you urinate very frequently, but it always makes me feel less uncomfortable.
