Small areas you should use the orbital sander for larger areas do the sand blasting. The fill for sand blasting can be expensive which is why you would use it on the larger areas. Black beauty fill works great it leaves no marks or scratches and a perfect smooth metal. Remember you have to wipe down the area with a lint free cloth not wash it as the bare metal can rust quickly. Get a top quality primer and paint. Be patient this can be a time consuming process but worth every second.

GOOD-GOSH!!!! Don't use a sand blaster, you'll warp the metal with the heat buildup. Use something like crushed walnuts, plastic media blast, even baking soda. Although, baking soda takes a lot of air compressor, but crushed walnuts dissipates the heat and does a great job, easy to clean up, and filter out to use again if needed. If not, its biodegradable. I have seen many armatures ruin great projects because they took the easy route, and/or just did not know what they were doing. Spend $10- $20 on books, ask around for advice.

Depends on what you are trying to do.
If just sanding a few spots, a DA is much eaiser.
If you are wanting to strip the entire truck, toss the DA out the window along with the sand. Get it bead blasted. Won't remove any metal and won't pit like sand does.
