At your age? Don't get a girlfriend but get a friend who's a girl, heehee! And make friends with her just like how you'd make a friend who's a boy (but be nice to her!). I had lots of friends who were boys when I was your age, just regular friends.
Just want to let you know that we girls DO make very, very good best friends. "Best friends", you know? Just like your best friend who's a boy... there's really no difference at your age. But it's waaay too early for you to get a girlfriend, as in "romantic girlfriend" haha.

What will an 11 year old do with a girlfriend? My son is 13, I feel he's too young to have a so-called girlfriend. It's okay to "be friends" with girls; yet not okay to destroy your childhood over. Wait until you're graduated from High School and proceed with caution... You're young, have fun; you have the rest of your life to deal with adult issues; most adults can't handle relationships; let alone an 11 year old. Indulge yourself into extra curricular activities to past the time; Be yourself & that special someone will truly notice, without you thinking about how you should "act."

there is no set way to act with girls, all girls are different, and like different things in guys, some girls like the tough looking quarter back with pecs of iron, some like a guy who can write and recite a poem. main rule, girls can see guys who are false either macho or otherwise, stay away from lying and try to not make it obvious that all you really want is to..... you get the picture... mainly be yourself and make the girl feel that you are genuine and do care for her. show some respect.

treat her nice and give her flowers and candy, If it does not work out all ways remember that there are other fish in the sea, asking her to help you find a girlfriend is not recommended, it only works in bad movies, but asking her if she would be your girl friend might work, expect to face rejection sometimes, girls like to be asked so that they can do the rejecting, it is a vanity thing with them
