In the recent kidnapping of two American soldiers, the news that they were being held first came from an Islamic website, but the sites' addresses are never given. And US news organizations rely on these insusrgent-run sites.

Apparently many of these sites issue their demands and reports etc in English and Arabic.

check out al jazeera. it's got better quality journalism and reporting than any mainstream news source in the usa - for more than just news on the middle east; they're good for international stuff in general
