The best LEGAL and SAFE way (without worrying about if you are getting virus or Trojan attached with your download, or worry if someone will come back in the future to your IP address with a copywrite infringement violations that will cost you/person that is registered to the computer megabucks) is either http://music.download.com or sign up for the particular band's website that you are interested in and sometimes they offer a "free" download of their song for a limited period of time.
While many people tout "Limewire", and I even received that as a music source for a 2 year subscription service that I paid for, I have heard that that and Winamp are in litigation with several people who have shared files, sometimes, unknowingly. A fellow in my town uploaded all his CD's to his hard drive and then signed up for Winamp and without him realizing it, he shared his music collection with the world and he has been sued by the major record labels for copywrite infringement over 2 years after the fact.
Others have been plagued with downed system and have to wonder if this might be the reason as it happened to them at all the same time.
I never have personally found anything on Limewire.com worth recording:{

At least now, through 6/30/06, if you purchase marked Coke products, if you earn more thatn 9 points, you can download a song, safely and virus free. www.mycokerewards.com is where you enter the codes it will tell you how to redeem the from there.

limewire, morpheus....all that good stuff...but to let you know, nothing is ever free, and your comp WILL pay the price with spyware...but have fun!
