Everyone wants the oil, but the question is who is going to get it. Gas in the States is very cheap because we made a deal with the Saudis 60ish years ago. But with the growth of China oil demand is way up. So we needed another source of dependable cheap oil.

I'm not saying that we went to war for oil, but some think it would be a nice reward for "saving" Iraq.

???? What are you talking about, US don't want the oil? Why we attack Iraq and why we stay there? We already have the oil from somewhere else, we want to control more. That's the same reason to why rich people want more money. They already has more than they ever needed.

Why are we only interest in attacking oil rich nations? Why not attack N. Korea, which is more threathening to us? The answer is N.Korea got no oil. Anyone who became a super power wants to control the oil. Russia had supported Iran in the past, now it is China who is supporting it. They all want oil, US is not the only one. We made the most notorious attempt to-date to take control of oil in the 21st century. Our intention is too obvious, no country in this world believe we are going for saddam or the weapon of mass destruction. WMD has been proven wrong, and we blame UK and CIA for the wrong intel. UK is also interest in the oil, but we kick him out after we conquered Iraq. One nation cannot have 2 rulers, we are the stronger one, we control Iraq.

Maybe you aren't getting any oil from them right now but won't it be handy to have a sympathetic government in place when you inevitably will need more oil? Don't you think that that is at least a small part of the overall strategy? Perhaps even a large part.

It just seems so strange that the US doesn't take as much interest in evil tyrants in non-strategic locations.

Yes of course!! The US gets most of its oil from Mexico, Canada and Venesula.

The problem is...that thinking otherwise gives the Anti-Bush crowd and their we went to war in Iraq just for the oil" a solid argument. Please dont take that away from them...they have so little as it is!

Oil,Oil,Oil, Just an excuse for Liberals to try and hurt the current US president. Even if it means losing lives in America and abroad the liberal media and politicians are climbing the political power ladder with claws and fangs drawn. Shame on them...Kerry, Palosi,Kennedy and Dean will they stop at nothing?

Yes we get most of our oil from Venezuela. But I don't know if you read the news much, we may be losing our Venezuelan resource to China. Chavez and the Chinese government are in talks because Chavez isn't exactly the biggest fan of the US government. Makes you think...

It's tough to get oil when your refineries have been burnt to the ground.

You're thinking of Iran... Iran imports about 40% of its refined oil b/c it lacks refining capacity. They import it from Europe.
