I have read some of the other answers and I am not happy that many think the French are arrogant. I am French and I am not arrogant, Far from it. My ancestors came from France and settled in Canada. They were humble farmers and to this day none of them are arrogant. You are generalizing. That's like saying all Scots are tight wads. Or all Jews are money hungry. Where do you get off saying such things. It seems to me that you are the arrogant one for asking this question. That's the problem with society these days, if you have a bad encounter with one person, you assume that the rest of the population is the same way. It's not so. I resent your question. Take a good look around you at different nationalities and you may find there is good in all people no matter where they are from. It is not just Europeans, but in the US as well. Think about it before you speak and put your foot in your mouth

Europeans are not so arrogant, Americans are. They hate US, so they don't try to respect us. Why they hate us? We made them hate us. We want every international politics to go our way. For example, the Internet domains, they have to sign up in US companies, they refuse to do that, so they create their own .eu domain. China doesn't like the US wifi technology, because we created it and we will be able to track every conversation made if we ever want to. Now they want to create their own version of the wireless. No standards is working out. The world has move on, and time has passed, but we refuse to acknowledge the truth. We live in the past and assume we control everything. If we continue that way, the world will be very divided. Everyone has their own domain, logining on to yahoo will give different page depends on where you live.

You can find arrogant people in all walks of life and in every society. One arrogant person seldom likes another. The best thing we can do for the world is learn to control our own megalomania. I don't mind going first.

They have the luxury since our military protects them. Losing seems to make people arrogant, ironically enough. Libs in the US are more arrogant than ever after losing two elections. Europeans are arrogant after being bailed out of two World Wars.
Britain is cool though.

I only find the French to fit into this category. They are arrogant and rude until they need help. How many times have other countries rescued the French?

Its mainly the French, not all Europeans. But keep in mind that some will think the same about you for asking that question. Its all about one's perception. And that varies with the individual.

europeans arrogant? try americans! europeans is a huge generalization...the french are somewhat arrogant...but only to the americans. they are only like that because many americans come to france expecting everyone to speak english. it FRANCE! they don't come here expecting everyone to speak french...nor do we have to, but people who visit france hardly even try to speak french. all of the other europeans are too laid-back to care what we speak in their country.
