If Your Turtle Had Her Eggs In Water More Then Likely its ok Cause your turtle Has Maternal Instincts And Would Move them to ground if she felt they were in danger and Turtles Are Natural Aquatic Animals So Your Eggs Should Be Ok If the Turtle Was Found On Land she would of buried her eggs and let the hatchlings crawl out Bottom Line: The Eggs Should Be Fine Just leave the eggs to the mother

you didn't say whether theywere inside or outside your home. they would have normally dug a hole in sand, laid the eggs there and covered them up.. letting the sun do the work.. turtles are NOT maternal! once they lay the eggs, they're DONE! ( you'll never see a mother turtle with babies following crossing the street, as ducks do!) Contact your local vet for the best way to handle this in your circumstance... if there's only the one turtle and you've had it a while, the eggs are probably infertile, tho... this is an accomplishment that most turtle "owners" rarely see! be sure to feed the turtle enough food... or it may develop a taste for the eggs!! good luck

If she is alone, then she is laying infertile eggs. Throw the eggs out. If she has a partner, then you need to provide a lay sight. Get a rubbermaid box and fill it with 50/50 sand and soil. Keep a 75 watt basking light on the lay box. Take the turtle out for an hour each day and let her do her thing. It usually works if she needs to lay.

You should palpate her to see if she has any more eggs. From the opening in the shell, where her legs come out, put your finger in and feel for eggs. You will know if you feel eggs. The turtle will try to pull its legs in and refrain you from reaching into the shell. It's easiest when she has her legs extended and you hang on to them and don't allow them go back in. Then with the other free hand, palpate her gently.

Cheers

Turtles need a place to get out of the water to bask. If the eggs are under water they are probably no good now. They should be thrown out. Turtles are not maternal. After they lay the eggs they don't bother them.

Captive turtles often have infertile eggs. If it was laid in the water, it is infertile.

I suggest reviewing the care and breeding of Painted turtles at sites like those below:

I would think if you only have one turtle that the eggs are not fertilized and nothing would happen. If you recently got the turtle, or you have a male - just watch them. It would be cool to see them hatch!

With only 1 turtle in your tank, the eggs are not fertilized. Throw them away.

look it up online and see the incubation period and see if they hatch around then if not they may not be fertilized, but DO NOT clean the tank at all. reptiles are funny about this kind of like hampsters and their babies... my gecko killed her 3 eggs bc i got some dead crickets out of tank .... dont know about turtles though

call the pet shop. i think most turtles bury their eggs. but with only one turtle they are probably unfertile.
