If so, why not. What does this say about the rights of women, if anything?

It's okay for you to wear anything you want. However,

Show some caution in what you wear. Clothes that show that much skin are typical to girls in their adolescence, ones who are not quite fully mature. One could say that the desire to so much skin is really a sign of the naivite of adolescents, their oversimplification of life, and their abandonment to hormonal impulses.

Not to say that any of those three things actually describe you yourself, but the problem is that perception is everything. Perhaps in Florida it is more acceptable, but a mature woman in Ohio would not be perceived well if she were dressed in the clothing you mentioned. Perhaps without even realizing it, most people jump from halter top straight to immaturity, or even desperation (i.e., that older woman must be desperate to walk around in the same clothes as the 15-year-old across the street).

A lot of women have trouble changing their style over time - it's hard for people to recognize that the same things don't fit them (physically or psychologically) anymore. There are ways to stay cool and sexy while dressing to your age. I'd suggest a fashion search online, or watch "What Not to Wear". There are often women on that show who dress the way you are talking about and are your age - they teach them ways to look good and still be respected.

About rights, I don't think it has anything to do with it. The only thing you can't do in public is walk around naked. Even some cities let women go topless. If it is your prerogative to dress in skimpy clothing, that is your right. There are tasteful halter tops out there, and if you can find them - go for it, but I would match it with a more modest bottom to make sure you don't look like you're going to be standing on the street corner. It is merely a matter of self-respect and taste.

Good luck!

It is a sin to be a stumbling block to anyone! It is not a sin to drink vine, Jesus made water to wine, Jesus is God the Son, God does not tempt. It would be sinful to drink vine among people who have a weakness for alcohol, since it would be a way of leading them into temptation. Ephesians 5:15-18 15 Be very careful, then, how you live-- not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is. 18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Why would someone wear the named clothes? To be a temptation? then yes. A sin is a sin, whether you are a Christian or not. "I didn't know" does not count as a way out of punishment. That makes it so much more important to know the Word of God. Better today than tomorrow! 1 Thessalonians 5:2-3 2 for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. If your body is decent, then you can show some skin but remember this tip, the older you get, the more expensive and well-made your clothes should be. Leave the trendy little clothes at Forever 21 for the young girls, you should be shopping the more quality lines.

You are a grown woman.

Never let someone else tell you what to wear, especially is it's a woman who feels she has the authority to tell you.

You know what makes you look hot. If that's the outfit that gets your way wear it.

With all the crappy magazines out there with women who are overly self conscious, we need rogues like you.

I say no way in hell if you are over the age of 30 you shouldn’t be shopping in the jrs. Dept. Why are you dressing that way a lady of the evening? Low self esteem? Have some self respect and dress your age. That is just my 2 cents.

Yes, to all 3 questions. It is even okay at any place besides Florida, with a few exceptions, like at a temple in Bali, etcetera.

I think that you should look around at others in your age group, see how they dress, and then evaluate how you feel about them. Chances are they would think roughly the same things about looking at you. As far as rights go, as long as you are not violating any decency laws, you can wear whatever you wish. In the long range, only you can decide what is appropriate for you, and what you feel comfortable in.

You can wear anything you want. The real question is do you look good in that sort of outfit. If you do, go for it. If you don't, decide if you care or not, then go for it.

Women can wear any dammed thing they want. Society may make comments, but who cares? I didn't ask you to go shopping with me.

If you don't like what you see...quit looking.

You can wear what you like, and in warmer climates it's perfectly acceptable to show a little more skin.
