Because people do not take the time to see another person's point of view. People are into their own pleasures and conveniences. But there are a lot of nice people out there too!
If you want to be treated with kindness and empathy, you must treat others that way yourself.

Sometimes you have to look after number one. You can't go around pleasing everyone else all the time. Most people have to be selfish in some way from time to time. If you feel that somebody in particular is being selfish at your expense, then try backing off a little and giving them some space. If a person feels too many demands on them, they tend to think, "Right, that's enough, I'm going to concentrate on my own problems for a while". Hope this helps.

All people start out good but I think that the enviornment that they live in is the factor that determines who they will become. In dealing with some not so nice people in my own life , I have learned that anyone can change and that we all hold the kindness to help factor in that. I remember a movie that I once watched called "The war". These children were not so nice to these other children so they were devestated by the fact that the father gave these mean spirited children their cotton candy and when asked about why he did this the father replied ........it looked like it has been a very long time since someone gave them anything. What we have to understand is that we never know why someone acts the way that they do and that a little unselfish act could be a changing moment for most.

I think there is a theory that states that humans are never trully completely altruistic - that we are always in it for ourselves; for example a guy may perform a kind act not to actually help someone out but to elicit feelings of self worth "I'm a good person..." sort of thing.

This argument shows that subconsciously our acts, whilst not necessarily premeditated are nonetheless engineered towards internal gratification. I don't necessarily believe this but I do see the irony in my writing you this reply: I want to help you but also if I'm truly honest, myself.

Hope this helps you - Best wishes.
