Organized religion has destroyed the world, in my opinion. The whole concept is based on control over our culture, and it fills you with ideas of guilt over the most common human experiences, usually related to sex. Whoever doesn't fit their mold gets persecuted. Religion is what is keeping society from moving forward. I'm an Atheist, and from experience I can tell you the only religion that isn't corrupt is Wicca. At least they have an open mind, and don't push their beliefs on people. The remaining religions, (especially Catholicism and Christianity), are intolerant of others, and it's "their way or the highway".

No, it is not the cause, although the media likes to portray that it is. Society is the cause for the problems of this world, because society is what drives people towards religion. If a person goes through a tramatic experience in their life, such as the end of a relationship, they may stop having confidence in society. Rather than just trying again, they turn towards religion for a quick and simple answer to their questions and confusion, and/or for a distraction and something else to devote their life to. With radical doctrines of certain religions, not only are these things offered, but also a thought of revenge. That is why some join radical groups. It isn't religions fault, it is the treachery of society. People hurt other people's feeling in the scene, and take no account for their actions. Society is in need of deep repair. People cannot be allowed to act so carelessly to one another.

religion religion religion.... what can I say but religion is nothing but an organised secret society imposed to uphold a law based on "10 commandments".
It was originally used as a way to keep people in line and basically making people feel bad if they over stepped this boundary. Sadly, religion like Christianity is just another cult that is forced upon most people from a young age by their nieve, ignorant parents (like racism), which makes this "religion" something that is built into a person and know none the wiser...
I can understand that people believe in religion for a false sense of hope because they are in a rough patch but on the contrary just shows how weak they are mentally.

religion is just one of many social divisions which causes conflict, but many other conflicts also involve religion, which is why it is such a problem. e.g race conflict often involves religious aspect, gender conflict, territorial conflict. ultimately, i think it is a very strong division as does cause major conflicts.
many religions preach peace and solidarity...and what they mean is solidarity within their group, not with the rest of the world.

Religion is one superficial cause of conflict, but the underlying cause of all conflict lies in humankind's inability to understand that we are all a part of one another, that when we help someone else, we help ourselves and when we hurt someone else, we, too, are hurt. Until we recognize that fact, mentally and emotionally, there will continue to be conflict.

I believe religion is inevitable, because when humans become more developed, they require more from life, including mental support and satisfaction. This is where religion comes in..

at times some people believe that thier beliefs justify violence and conflict but i think the real reason is mans unwillingness to try to understand anything that is different from what is "normal" to what they were taught while growing up.
