the most broadly accepted child labor law internationally is the Minimum Age Convention 138 (C138), 1973
Adopted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) in 1973, C138 binds ratifying countries to pursue a national policy for the abolition of child labor and to progressively raise the minimum age for employment or work to a level consistent with the fullest physical and mental development of young persons. This minimum age should be 15 years, or the age reached by the completion of compulsory schooling. According to the convention, the minimum age for work that is likely to jeopardize the health, safety or morals of young persons is 18. To date, 120 countries have ratified C138, including Nepal in 1997. India and Pakistan are yet to ratify Convention 138.
so it's basically illegal everywhere, but many countries in poorer areas of the world look the other way.

I just read the links provided by worthyprice and am totally flabbergasted at what I read. If employers would give a living wage to adults maybe it would help the situation some. The employers who hire these minors should be more than fined. They belong in jail with a long long sentence. Also if parents of these minors were fined they would think twice about letting their children work like that instead of going to school and instead of getting to be a child in the summer. I know this does not really answer your question but this is a deplorable situation that these children are in.

Where is the prof of this abuse, all I see are instantiated accusations Its easy to throw charges at big business here in the USA.I need more than just someones words. Anyone can say anything, its called free speech It seems the 4 yr old chili pickers mother was to blame for the 4yr old being there ,not the companies that bought the peppers. I'm not saying it couldn't be true in some cases but get prof then do what ever has to be done to stop it.

I was going to say something about my kids. But then I looked at the links!! I am at a loss for words! That is so wrong ! My one wish would be that all children across this country and world had a safe carefree childhood. How can we let this happen ? Why aren't the do-gooders doing something about this? All they worry about is their agenda!People must realize we are our brothers keeper!
