every site i go into gives me timber and not concrete

Bradford is correct...however concrete does not have to be all that heavy. There are light-weight aggregates, which can reduce the weight.

Suspended concrete? Concrete you say?
New one on me. This is a lot of trouble. Safety is definitely an issue. You do not want to see any one get hurt.

If I were you, I will reconsider this project.

Consider concrete look alike products in hardware stores - Or fancy wood plates that look more elegant. But concrete? Your party with more guests standing on it and beneath it is a disaster waiting to happen.

suspended concrete? sounds heavy, i would contact a structrial engineer, As concrete by itself is very heavy, i could imagine a miscalculation somewhere would lead to a tragedy when the family gathers out there for that summer get together.

lots of reinforcement like rebar. then use a lighweight concrete .Then you need a heck of a system to suspend it dude there are so many options....I've been doing concrete forever but not like this.Do a lot I mean a lot of research.Good luck , let me know if you find a perfect solution.
