If you are using windows and have mai id in yahoo,gmail,aol,msn etc you can get a messnger software for that.Get the address from their website,download it,install and sign in to stsrt chatting after you add contacts.You can chat openly by jining rooms.
In some linux distributins you get Gaim and other messengers free and already installed whic suport all your ids.Just setup account and sign in to chat.

open the yahoo chat
check the buddy list who is online or else go to yahoo chat rooms and start chatting first start with hi......then ask their asl that's age/sex/ location.....and so on...............
