it depends on what sort of relationship you have with your partner. Casual then there are no real commitments regardless.
However in a Committed relationship is not supposed to be a situation where you are keeping the bench warm in case someone better comes along. If you make a commitment to someone, ie. marriage, you are saying you won't search for another more suitable mate.
If you honestly think relationships are that simple then you need to mature before committing yourself to anyone.

You have no right to keep them. A human being is not a piece of property, you do not own your partner. Why don't you sit down and think about all the things you could have done differently in the relationship.

you know, don't even try to keep them. i know sometimes love is stronger than common sense, but don't try to keep them. the most important thing is that your partner broke up with you for someone suitable. that means that your partner never truly loved you. this is the moment when you have to think about yourself. is it better for you to be with a partner who doesn't love you? no,it's not. it can only make you feel bad. so let her/him go,you will find someone better. there's someone for everyone.

I dont feel one would have the right to keep someone there who doesnt want to be there..if my partner was to find someone better and didnt want to be with me no more, i'd say go for it, because then he must not of loved me as much as he said he did.

That is the reason that divorce was invented, so that you can move on to someone more suitable and get out of a marriage that has no love anymore

Well its like this, if you have done everything in your power that you can to make them happy, and to show them that you love them, care for them, and want to HONOR the vows that you made, and they felt that they had to step outside the boundaries to find someone else while you were still together, its not you thats keeping them, but it is you that is freeing yourself from someone who is obviously, greedy enough and desperate enough that you arent enough or good enough for them, well then just kick her @$$ to the door, and move yourself on up.

You have no right.Everyone is free to do what they want.It is worse for you if you try to keep that person because there would be no love at all.You will find someone who is more suitable for you, cuz this one was not, right?

If you have gone ahead and had kids , you should consider the effects on them. I come from a broken home and the insecurity of my parents breakup has affected my whole life.
