by law you have to be 21 to get a cdl. just wait a couple of years and drive around in parking lots with someone you know. practice backing up trailers and you wont have any problem when you do turn 21

you can be 18 and get your CDL but you can leave the state you live in and when you turn 21 then you can leave the state and do long haul witch is called Over The Road or OTR and i did the same thing at your age and no 1 would hire me tell i turned 21 and no 1 will sponsor you at that age if you want your CDL pay for it your self and see if you can get a job driving truck with Farm Tags but to be honest about the only job you are gonna be able to get at your age will be with a City, State, County, or Fed. Gov . cause no 1 can afford the insurance on you and you dont have any experience and you arnt 21 sorry but thats the way they are trust me i know i was there

Been driving a truck for 33 years and I have one piece of excellent advice for anyone thinking about getting CDL. RUN....DO NOT WALK!!!!! Away from anyone wanting to give you one. Truck driving is just about the dumbest way to earn a living I can think of. Long hours....long time away from home if you drive over the road. Long hours....low pay if you take a job running local because employers know the local jobs are most desirable. Long hours....if you want to see your son hit his first home-run...ain't happening...you're stuck in a truck stop 7 states away. Or you're sitting in a plant waiting to get your load..been there 5 hours and the shipper just came out and told you your load would be ready in 3 hours so sit tight. Think I'm joking? Ask a trucker. By the way...anymore most waiting time unless you are paid by the hour is mostly free. Don't believe me? Ask a trucker. Go to school...get a profession that's Chinese proff....be a plumber...electrician...but do NOT become a truck driver!!!!!!

You actually don't even need a class. All you have to do is pass the test at the DMV, DPS or whatever they call it in your state.
