It is always ok to not stand behind your leader in a free society. I completely reject the notion that the president automatically deserves my respect. First of all, the president of a free society is no more and no less a citizen of that country than I am- in other words, we are all equal. Second, it seems that the people I hear saying that it is unpatriotic to not back the president no matter what are mostly conservatives, and they only say it when their guy is in charge; when it's the other guy anything goes. Don't tell me I have to respect your guy because you say so, and then come up with all kinds of rationalizations when you bad-mouth my guy. What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

How surprising- there's already an answer from the hate-Clinton crowd. That's right- lying about sex is so much worse than lying about reasons to go to war.

It is okay to not be behind your leadership when they are committing crimes against humanity, war crimes and violations of their oaths of office and when they are committing acts of treason. It is not the fact that the person is your boss or leader. If someone told you to jump out of air plane would you. If you watched a friend stab someone to death you, yourself are now considered an accomplice. Mostly you have to follow your own heart of right and wrong, because what everybody keeps forgetting to tell you, it is not they who have to live with the decisions you make. You do. A good rule of thumb to follow is simple. chances are if you got to stay quite.or hide your decision from friends and family it is not something you need to be doing.
But most importantly of all can you live with the worst that could possibly happen from such a decision.

when they are wrong. the usa is based on the simple ideal that you can; do, say, think, believe, act & endorse however you want as long as it doesnt interfere with someone elses ability to do the same with logical comprimises when when needed. the idea that its patriotic to support the leader because of its job title is ridiculous. the mentality goes back to the communist & imperial when a leader needed unconditional control over their subjects. thats no good for the usa, it shackles our form of creativity which has been shown to be a high calibre of inginuity.

When the Leader becomes a mindless twit murdering fool who gets America into a war with no plan to win or to get out of it. He stuck it to America and the rest of us. Now we have to put up with bloody Islamic Jihad. They are both the same. he should go to Iraq and stay there.
