Try getting a job at the land fill. I am sure there is still a rather significant amount of contaminated land in New Orleans, or you could all ways move to Chernobyl. You could also try looking into Green Peace or other Environmentally friendly organizations, I am sure they accept volunteers.

It is sad that so many people attend college for 4 years to find that the only people that want to hire them is Burger King. To get a job in the pure sciences you must have a Doctorate in your chosen field. Some counselor should have told you that 4 years ago. Now all you can do is try to get student loans and at least get your Masters Degree. You could also volunteer to work and gain some experience that way.
Good luck.

Find out where your nearest landfill/waste disposal company or organisation is.
Approach them and say you are doing a project and would it be possible to do the project work at their company, alternatively state you would like to get some experience and be prepared to work for free (during your holidays if you are still studying)
If you show willing and be prepared to do anything then you should get some experience.

Try dumping several thousand gallons of diesel fuel in your back yard. I hear it's great for getting rid of ants, anyways!
