Because there is a risk involved in loving an insect that can potentially kill you with their poisons.

Because their size gives us the impression that they can hide and escape very easily! I imagine whether a horse would be as scary as a bug if it were the same size, and my assumption is 'yes,' if it moves as fast as a typical bug. A bug is so scary because it can move quickly, while still being noticed. A mouse isn't as scary because it moves so fast, and yet is big enough to where it can't hide in...say...bedsheets or something. A bug is so scary because it is so small, yet its body is so full of detail and limbs. The combination of a small body and one that is very peculiar in looks is what creeps us out. To make my point, I'm an arachnophobic, but daddy-longlegs don't scare me. They move so slowly and they are just a little ball with long legs, not like a fast spider with eight hairy legs and a big, insect body...

Because bugs are slimy and crawly and often come in large quantities, not to mention movies like "aracnaphobia" others. Mostly because they're gross.

seems the more modernized, the greater the fear of bugs. if you go look at forest inhabitants like tribes, there's no fear of bugs among them. why? beats me too.

I find cockroaches gross... they're just so icky, and yucky, and crunchy!!! ugh... especially when they're upside down and you see their legs squriming up and down... GROSS!!!
