That should have been "take that to the bank."

In order to take something to the bank, it has to not be counterfeit, i.e. it has to be legal tender, a valid cheque, etc. So to say of somebody's argument on a particular position that you can "take it to the bank" is to say the argument is true, valid, correct, etc.
