It sounds as if your belt is getting worn. I would recommend getting a can of coke and putting a little on the belt. If it stops then the belt is your problem. Also keep in mind that you did not specify a year make and model either so this is a generic answer. On newer cars it could be the belt tensioner also. On older cars the belts may need to be adjusted. Check your belts for cracks or a polished look. This is an indication of belt slippage so they should be replaced as needed

Your belt tension is insufficient. It may be caused by a worn belt or not enough tension. If belt is worn, frayed, cracked or in bad shape, replace it. If the belt is fine, look for a pulley with a tension adjustment nut. Loosen bolt, use a prybar or screwdriver to add tension and then tighten the bolt while keeping the tension on. Belt should deflect about 1/2 inch if pushed when properly tensioned.

When AC is turned on it puts a sudden load on the belt. Check belt tension and adjust. On most Mazds the AC belt is a seperate belt from the fan or PS or Alt. Even if it breaks, will cause no harm. Only loose AC operation
If problem were fan motor would make noise when AC off and fan on.

The belt noise has NOTHING to do with freon. It has to do with your drive belt's tension. It may be too tight or too loose, or it may even be a worn belt that needs to be replaced.
It won't really affect the performance of your AC other than being annoying, but if it's a worn belt, you'll want to replace it ASAP.

nope, it will not stop even if you add freon. the squeaky sound must be coming from the fan belt. you need to replace it already. otherwise, your car might overheat if the fan belt is completely damaged.

proubly not, first you have to inspect where the squel is coming from. can you tell if the squeal is coming from under the hood at your ac unit or is it comming from your blower moter that blows the air inside. if it's from your ac area under your hood, have some one to turn on the ac while you look and see if its a belt squealing. look at the ac unit and see if the front of the ac unit (cluch, coil field) activates (or simply start turning) when someone turns on the ac switch...... some of the tips might help you figure out where the noise is coming from but to tackel an ac job ( if needed) or changing out a blower moter, you might want to see a mechanic, these jobs takes tecnical tools and skills in most cases, I hope I'v helped you I'v been a pro. mec. for 25yr. if you need assist. over the net e me at specialedy05@yahoo...Thanks

sounds like a slipping serpentine belt. maximum modern-day vehicles use a serpentine belt with an computerized tensioner. This belt drives the means guidance, a/c, alternator, water pump, etc. replace the belt. at the same time as the belt is being replaced, have the tensioner inspected. those may also positioned on out.

Sounds like the blower motor...does it also make that noise if you turn the heat on and off? If so it is the blower motor..need to be replaced. The bearings wear out. They cost about $50 to $80 dollars

It is not the belt, the belt is always moving and when you turn it on a clutch engages. The clutch needs to be disassembled cleaned and greased or worse case scenario replaced.

Get some water (a cup) and put it on the fan belt while it's making the sound to see if it stops.
If it stoped, go get your fan belts tightened.
You might need to replace them if they are too worn.
