Todays country and westen.
Because I cannot stand old country music with Hank Williams nasal twang and songs so sad they make you hate it that you are sucking air. Not Conway Twitty or Loretta Lynn, not on your life.
But the country music today is so much like the rock of the 80's it is astonishing.
Listen to Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts. These people are talented musicans that are somewhere in the middle or the way left of rap. They do not fit in with what is being called rock today, which isn't really anything that anyone can remember dancing to at 2 oclock in the morning on prom night. It is just a whole bunch of flash in and flash out musicans who won't even get to fade away, Reason is because todays youth want instant change and don't care what or who they throw away that is old and used.
On the other right hand you have some people who sing true good songs they mostly wrote themselves and play the instruments to make the music and are supr talented and are going to be around for a long time. They are talented and the middle yeared people which I am one of, are inlove with their sounds. If we have to suffer through George Strait and Willie Nelson to hear them we will.
Listen to Keith Urbans Love Some Body Like You and Who Wouldn't Want to Be Me, Gary Alans smoke rings in the Dark or The One, Alan Jackson's Chattahoochie, or Rascal Flats, Just Another Lonely Day or Fast Cars and Freedom.
Tim McGraw and Live Like You Were Dying they are great and did I mention Kenny Chesney , He and uncle crackr sing one that is top notch.
check it out if you don't like it all you have lost is some minutes and if you are sitting in front of your keyboard you are already losing minutes of your day.

theres so many good music genres really. im more into the underground folk-rock, alternitive rock, beat poetry kind of stuff though. (this is only because my mother is a hippie) its cool because there are some good rock songs in this genre ((surely youve heard of bloc party, death from above 1979, silversun pickups and all of those other alt. rock bands), bush, nirvana and marcys playground from the grunge 90s era can be included in this)) folk rock is cool because the vocals are always interesting as well as the lyrics. (scout niblett, iron and wine, damien rice)
there are also dance songs and many bands that have been influenced by the 80s (elefant, dandy warhols)
ani difranco is an amasing folk rock beat poetry artist. check out grey, as is, not a pretty girl, subdivision, and fuel is a good poetry beat poetry song.)

Progressive Rock in the late 70's-early 80's because the people actually had talent then. Not only could they sing, but they could actually play musical instruments.

This depends on the mood you're in. My personal opinion is Rock. But it's just an opinion. But if you're a romantic, then you'll probably love the slow stuff.

there is no one genre that can be considered the best because music says different things to different people. the same song or same type of music can evoke different emotions in different people. prime example: my brother loves crunk music. lil' jon and everybody. it makes him crunk and live. me? i'm not a fan. it makes me feel tired, like i've run a mile and angry. to each his own.

jazz. why? because it has a funky edge to it. jazz is based on improvisation. you can hear almost any instrument element in jazz... from the violin to guitars, from drums to pianos, from the flute to the saxaphone. jazz has no fixed melody. you can do whatever you want with jazz. the one thing for sure is that jazz will never sound conventional! it forever evolves in every decade.

there is no "Best" music genre. every group of music appeals to certain people. it's an opinion. therefore, if there is no fact i can't give you an answer.
