The first LA was the 273, with a two barrel carb, and 180 hp (gross). By 1965, a four-barrel carb and high performance cam were available to push that to 235 hp; and, in 1966, a limited edition 273 with a 700 cfm carb and .500" lift cam put out 275 hp (gross).
The engine at 318 can go all the way up to over 400 horsepower. The URL shows a guy who put the 318 into a Toyota Celica. Gooo Mannn!
;-D
Wish I had one to play with!

i agree and dis believe loper, a four hundred mod is a 351 with mods. it wasnt only a truck motor it got here in crowns and torinos probly many extra. its lengthy way from boat anchor, i stay on the music and that i concentration on yet another none music motor 390 fe block its no longer used at music yet i take advantage of it and there is amazingly little on the music that can carry. only including a 4barrel and cam dont do the engine any good.with the 390 i bored 60 over, positioned a 352 crank in it (destroked it for top rev reduce),428 valve practice, pushrods (good raise),a timing set(instantly decrease),intense riser twin intake for 428, 2 1150 demon carbs, a three hundred shot of hidin nos, a 740 raise cam, 3500 stall, 3.5 in hooker headers. it pushes arround 860hp at 4600, holds 8500 rpms. my factor the following isn't anybody takes the rod slapper way(chevy motorheads) they make an attempt to construct a engine which will be intense priced yet dont damage down everytime it fires. you stroke that four hundred to compare a 351 clevland it is going to carry intense rev and extra compression.
