There must be something wrong with your video card or you either changed monitor or changed its display resolution. Some monitors can only accomodate specific resolutions.

Try using a different monitor or a different video card or use the on-board video card.

SOunds like a refresh rate problem. reboot and press F8 a few times before windows can start. Select VGA mode. when it boots and if it boots properly. goto CONTROL PANEL and open the DISPLAY applet. Click the SETTINGS tab and then click the ADVANCED button toward the bottem. Click Monitor and adjust the refresh rate to 60 or so, press OK and restart.

I hope that helps. If you didn't play with the refresh rate and it just started happening there are some things it could be.

The monitor might be dying or the card. if you overclocked your card then it might be dying, but first check the refresh rate.

If you have an onboard screencard and a discrete card then disable the onboard card in the bios or via a jumper (check your motherboard manual) or just plug your screen into the other VGA connector (assuming you moved the pc recently).

I had the very same problem. Turns out, my monitor cord to the computer came loose. Unless you look back there, chances are you are not going to notice it. I was ready to buy a new graphics card or monitor, too. Thank goodness I looked.

I did have a graphics card burn up before, but it was gradual (over a few days). If you lost the signal entirely, I wouldn't think it was the graphics card, I would check for loose cable connections. In fact, I would be compelled to think that the problem may be with your monitor if loose cables aren't the problem.

the monitor is probably at fault it here.......you cannot load xp successfully and hear sounds if the video card is damaged....try checking the wires or the plug of your monitor...or use other monitors if you have one......
