typically computers fall into two catagories on this subject
1) a rules based "Expert System" where the knowledge can be accurately defined. It can answer questions like what to do if the ice cream is not turing a chocolate color.
2) neural net, which comes the closest to AI in that they can learn by trial and error.
True sentient AI aka the terminator does not exist yet, but with current advancement it is on the not so distant horizon.
