Official figures this year put public spending per head in England at £6,762. But in Scotland it was £8,265 per head, a difference of £1,503.

Taking two cities Edinburgh and Sheffield this means the Governemtn spends about £650 million per year extra on services etc in Edinburgh and equalsums on all oher Scottish cities.

My guess is with £650 million pounds extra every year even Sheffield could become a city of culture, enterprise, tourism etc.

I am sure the poor people in the deprived areas of England are not aware of this.

What planet do you live on. For 300 hundred years Scotland had to put up with West minister making decisions for Scotland with a majority of English MP,s . Now the English are not happy because the Scottish MP,s are making decisions for England that the English cant make for Scotland. Well we had to put up with this for 300 hundred years. Oh and by the way, those figures are not accurate. I think it is about time that those of you south of the border stopped trying to cause trouble all the time. Anywhere you go in the world the Scots are loved and the English are hated, and the proof is in the asking. It is obvious that the English have a problem with us Scots for the amount of daft questions you lot ask.

A Little lesson in Politics, History and Semantics. You are the proof that statistics can be used to prove anything. We are all British, and for centuries the Scots have more than pulled their weight in the entity of the United Kingdom, the British Empire etc. Without the contributions of Scottish North Sea oil and gas, Scots Whiskey, etc. the British exchequer would have been bankrupt by the mid 70's. I'm not even Scottish, but British/(Northern)Irish!

Well, lets think about this. Us lot in England control the scottish economy, scottish trade, scottish defence and socittish foreign affairs, scotland relys on us to keep its economy running. London stil runs scotland, whatever times readers would liek to think. Im sure the pouring of 'billions' is justified, as scotland does have some of the highest unemployment areas in the UK. Besides, Parliament is not English, its British, it does what is best for the entire country, this kind of inflammatory question does nothing but divide us from our companions in the north.

OK, so u mention NOTHING about the revinue that Scotland bring inot the UK in the form of North sea gas and tourism.

In fact, in terms of pounds spent v pounds earnt Scotland brings in much more than theyspend. I would be more than willing to retract my belief if there were figures to show the contrary.

Encouraging people to read the Daily Mail. I am going to report you to Yahoo. You should be ashamed of yourself. It's like heroin. They feed this kind of crap to intellectual munchkins from time to time so they will will come back to buy more.
