You probably can't do any better than Scripps Institute of Oceanography in San Diego - but it's a graduate school, so keep it in mind while working toward your Bachelor's degree.

I'll echo that about Scripps. Oceanography tends to be a field in which you get your PhD, not an undergrad degree, anyhow.

Oceanographers come from diverse fields including marine biology, geology, geography, biology, chemistry, meteorology, and physics.

If you're thinking oceanography, you might also think about the University of Hawaii at Manoa. They got a whole lotta ocean! Oh yeah!

UC Santa Cruz or CSU Monterey Bay. Depends how much dough you got. I had a friend at USC who was in that field. MUCHO money though

uc santa cruz and uc santa barbara are right near the coast and have great marine biology programs. ucsd is also right near the ocean and pomona has a great science program overall.
