What is perfection? How do we define something so abstract?

"Shoot for the stars and hope to hit the moon."

For me perfection is an ideal state or unattainable goal that one strives to achieve during one's life time. First, what is the purpose of perfection? The idea of perfection greatly affects our psyche in that it drives us, motivates us, and sometimes punishes us especially when we see that we are not moving towards that perfect state. For instance, when we say perfect beauty, i believe that what we consider "perfect beauty" are characteristics that we want to attain for ourselves or thru a spouse.

Next, the state of perfection is defined by each and every person. Not everyone have the same ideas about what that perfect state is. Even perfect beauty is different for each individual person. In other words, perfection is a personal state.

If you subscribe to the idea that life is about balance how does perfection fit into this paradigm. I think perfection defines one end of the spectrum. The goals that we work on moves us closer to that state of perfection but it is an unachievable goal because the very nature of life and the need to balance it prevents us from ever achieving that state

A total confirmation to a certain standard which you have already set.

A perfect thing in one parameter could be imperfect in another. In absolute sense perfection means conformation to certain parameters, nothing else.

sumthing that one needs to feel for themselves...ya, most people say that perfection cannot be achieved but perfection depends on how u see it...i see perfection as sumthing that makes me happy and feel like i know myself inside out and at that moment, even if iam not the most confident person doing the best job on sumthing, i still see myself as perfect......happiness is perfection for me...
