they don't check unless you've declared you're bringing in more than 10k and certain amount of products, especially if they are taxable.. They won't check if you have enough to stay in a hotel but they could check your luggage if they think it has something suspicious. Not everyone gets through the gates so easily and even locals are checked once in a while. It's all random and based on your luck.
Basically don't lie on the form, don't bring in drugs, animals or gum and you shouldn't be in trouble. ,

Not really. There is a limit maybe like 10,000 $ out of the country, but coming in unless you are bringing in for business, then you need to declare, if over 10,000 S$.

when i went to singapore from malaysia, we just walked right thru. there was a guy standing there, but no one got stopped. i was really shocked. i dont know how much you are allowed to take.
