3x + 4y = 12
(m+n)x + 2(m-n)y = 5m - 1

m + n = 3
m = 3 - n

2(m - n) = 4
2((3 - n) - n) = 4
3 - 2n = 2
-2n = 2 - 3 = -1
2n = 1
n = 1/2

m = 3 - 1/2
m = 5/2

...I think that's right.

assume m=2 and n=1 put value of m and n ...equ. will be 3x+2y=9.....................(2) , 3x+4y=12..............(1) subtract equ. (1) and(2) ..result will be y=3\2 ..put value of y in any of the equ..x=2 hence ans of the question is y=3\2 ,x=2
