Are you an Art Major or is this a general education requirement? If it's a general ed requirement it will be somewhat easier.

If you can, get a study group together. Each one take an artist and go into the paintings, sculptures, etc. and time period of that artist. Then each of you take turns telling the others and showing examples of their work.

If there are museums close by all of you (or by yourself) go visit. Take your study books with you. Sit and contemplate what you see, refer to your books. Take notes. The art stays with you when you actually get to see it in person. Docents can give you a brief history of a piece of artwork.

Art is emotional, it hits you when you least expect it to, and once you know the history behind its creation, it can really find a place in your heart.

I had a lot of history classes before I had an art history class and that helped. History can be dry and boring, but seeing the artwork created in that time period just 'brought it all home' so to speak. Had an impact. It brought the history classes to life.

I hope the website helps you study for the art history class and I also know other classes will compete for 'study' time.

Good Luck.
