Google gets points because they created the bulk of the major search algorithms and because they don't sell your information to the government.
They lose points because they are working with China to to block certain sites.
Ask, last time a checked, was a terrible search engine. I haven't used in years because it basically just gave me a few advertisements and nothing useful.
Most of the rest of the major search engines: yahoo, msn, alta vista, etc. are just rehashes of Google.

i would say yahoo...even though the yahoo search is based on google search engine( yahoo had a contract that use google search),but yahoo is more user friendly and lots of features, which is good
