Yes, they are innocent questions. But they are not the sort of questions for which Yahoo! Answers was designed. Although, to be honest, I think most of them would be acceptable on the "polling" category. Most of them have been done a million times already, though. And many of them are pointless in the extreme. For example, what good is "How old are you?" You don't get a representative sample of all the Y!A users, you don't even know if you get the truth. So what's the purpose in asking?
And I disagree that it is "thought police" that are on the other side of the "report abuse" function. They are doing a legitimate job to keep this site on track. Remember that Internet freedom of speech does not mean you have the right to say anything anywhere; it means you have the right to create a web page of your own and say anything you like on it. Not necessarily here.

What yahoo means, it is not for the messenger services. If you want to use this kind of questions, use yahoo messenger. That is why they are saying, these kind of questions are illegal and will loose the purpose of the service.
